I found this dark blue '88 Blue Max Cougar V8 locally via Ebay in the fall of 2002. The original plan was to sell the '88 T-Bird and use this car as a daily driver. When I got the car home I discovered that it needed a lot more work than planned. This was my fourth car as well, so money was tight. It spent the winter of '02 and spring of '03 in storage. In the summer of '03 I finally had the cash reserve to get a few things fixed on the car and had it ready just in time for Cat Jam.
Officially Twilight Blue Metallic, this stunning color lends itself great to the Blue Max package, which consists of the lower grey striping, luggage rack, red striping in the molding, and special badging. The car is still based on an LS, although there is no LS badging.

Contrary to popular belief, not all 1987-88 Blue Max Cougars were blue, although both of mine are. Practically any factory color could be had with the Max package. There are still lots of them running around in my area too.

Inside it was pretty much stock when I got it; in fact, there wasn't a thing changed. But my back has issues with stock, non-lumbar seats nowadays. So I installed a pair of good used buckets from a parted out '88 XR7, along with its console, dash panels and matching sport steering wheel. The stereo system has been rewired and redone as well.

As time moved on I reassessed my vehicle situation and came to the conclusion that I had to get rid of a car (not enough garage space...the culprit of many forced automobile sales). In the summer of 2006 it found a new owner that promised to keep it stored during winters, and also to drive it to Cat Jam every year. I'm very happy with the deal we made...and even happier that the car found a worthy family.
